The Last Debate

Did anyone watch this debate?  I sure did.  I am not sure what I was expecting to get out of it, but I will have to say it was a lot more entertaining than the previous debates.

It sucks that they are not having a couple more.  We need to hear more from both candidates, and they have been so sheltered thus far in the debates.  This last one the gloves finally came off and they got tough questions and had good rebuttals to each other’s charges.  These two guys are polar opposites and it showed in this last debate.  It was also fun to watch the Pundits choose the winner and loser.  As usual each side thought their guy won, and the so called non-biased guys had called it a draw with McCain winning the first half and Obama winning the second half.

I wish McCain had stuck on the message more about the spending.  What people do not get is that Government Programs require more spending, and at this point in this country, more Government spending is the very last thing we need.  I totally opposed the bail out.  Why should taxpayers pay to bail out these companies?  The great thing about this country is that you have the ability to succeed and also to fail.  If you do something stupid like give out loans to people who can’t afford them, or buy said loans, or take loans that you can’t afford, you should have to pay for it.  Learning from your mistakes is a basic human thing, and the more we go down this road of bailing out one guy, the closer we will get to Socialism, and I guarantee you most Americans do not want that.

We need to hear more from Mr. Obama where he is going to come up with all this money for all these programs he is proposing.  We also need to know how he will get that money without raising taxes.  Yeah, I know everyone says his plan cuts taxes for 95% of Americans, but that’s misleading because 40% of Americans already do not pay taxes,.  So these people who do not pay taxes will now get tax credits, which is just another form of welfare.  So in summary this plan raises taxes on people who make $250K per year or more, and then gives credits to people who do not even pay taxes, and this essentially will start the class war all over again.

McCain dropped the ball when focusing on Obama’s relations with sketchy people.  He was doing well when he focused on the economy and asking Obama over and over again where the money was going to come from and telling the people of America that Obama and his friends are simply going to tax us more and create even more government.  In a time like this when the congress which is lead by Democrats has the lowest rating ever, and the President who did not veto many spending bills, McCain should have focused on that, and he would have won the debate for sure!
